About Us

A formally trained, super talented baker and her food and business enthusiast sister, sifted through all the desserts around them, but could not find anything with real cream, great chocolate, juicy fruits or pretty desserts without artificial colouring.

After discovering they were not alone (and after creating their drunken desserts) and many years of toil, tears, and tenacity, Sifted Spirit was born!

A Sisters Journey

When we were little, our playtime consisted of us running our imaginary bakery café out of parents’ bedroom. Somewhere this dream got lost in adulthood, but the quiet chaos of the pandemic reignited our passion and childhood dream of sharing with the world what makes us happy.

We moved to commercial orders, supplied our desserts to restaurants, and what we learned validated our resolve more. Commercial frostings and cake mixes extensively use additives, preservatives, harmful food dyes and artificial flavours - something normalized by most bakeries and food establishments to keep costs low. We decided to be the change we so badly wanted to see by serving people ‘nothing but the best!’

We have been working tirelessly for the last two years to offer desserts that look AND taste great, using real, high quality ingredients so when you cut that cake, thanking nature for a long life, you are actually celebrating with something that pays homage to that life. We hope to turn this dream into a reality and our greatest pleasure lies in you enjoying the experience as much as we enjoy creating it.

Fate made us sisters, but we chose each other as best friends, bonding over our love for desserts whose Spirit is made up of the right flavour, texture, temperature & feel.

The silky richness of chocolate oozing out a soft sponge cake, or the earthy hug of matcha.

A spoon surfacing from the depths of creamy tiramisu, bites melting in the mouth leaving behind burnt sugar that lingers, the sensuality of cocoa, a warm slice of sticky toffee apple pie, the warm melty hug that cinnamon brings, tender fruits tucked under flaky, golden crust, with a dollop of vanilla ice cream slowly melting into every bite…

Cracking the shores of caramelized sugar revealing a creamy and velvety custard below, or having fresh, bright fruit compote tingling through the richness of tangy-sweet cream cheese filling, with a drizzle of heavenly sauce... we could go on forever (oh and gooey fudgy brownie).

It is the spirit of these things that we want to bring to you every. single. day. We have Sifted through for the perfect desserts made with premium, local, high-quality ingredients, without any additives or food colouring promising not to lose flavour for the sake of aesthetics.

P.S. This iconic vintage pink candy stripes was our school print; many creative dreams and ideas were born during boring lectures and lunches, staring at these very comforting colours.

Meet Astha, the Baker

Chef Astha trained at George Brown as a French pastry chef and while she was formally trained in Toronto, her passion for all things kitchen was planted and nurtured by her grandmother who also had a penchant for cooking! Having worked at multiple bakeries after graduation, Sifted Spirit truly embodies Chef Astha’s cumulative life experience.
